Hart Schaffner Marx

Aug 28 2020

Suit maker Hart Schaffner Marx began in 1887, when two immigrant brothers, Harry and Max Hart, opened a men’s clothier in downtown Chicago. There have been peaks and valleys over the course of the company’s history, and it almost shut down just a few years ago. But Doug Williams, a veteran of the fashion industry who spent 16 years at Ralph Lauren, put together a deal to keep Hart Schaffner Marx afloat. Williams now owns the company, and you can find Hart Schaffner Marx suits at retailers like Nordstrom.
