Scott Paul on NPR: Bay Bridge offers "learning moment" on infrastructure spending.
National Public Radio (NPR) interviewed Alliance for American Manufacturing (AAM) Executive Director Scott Paul today to find out exactly why AAM put up billboards in California that declare the Bay Bridge “100% foreign steel.”
AAM’s “Should Be Made in America” campaign explains that the steel for the center span of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge was outsourced to China at the cost of thousands of American manufacturing jobs.
In the NPR interview, host Michael Krasny asked Scott Paul why AAM chose to focus on the Bay Bridge. Paul explained that it’s a “learning moment,” and that AAM is engaging the American public in a debate about how taxpayer money should be spent on infrastructure work.
