Securing our Future

The Alliance for American Manufacturing is a unique, innovative partnership between the United Steelworkers Union and a number of our employers. We’ve come together to forge an effort to tackle some of the most challenging problems facing our nation’s declining manufacturing base: trade, health care, energy, pension policy and many others.
Our manufacturing base is the heart of our economy. It is the engine that creates economic growth and opportunity and is the foundation of our national strength. It is the source of more than 90 percent of our patents – making it the laboratory for creativity and innovation.
For too long, policy makers have ignored many of the problems facing the sector and have put at risk our standard of living, the American Dream and our nation’s economic and military security.
The AAM represents a new approach – a rejection of business-as-usual. There are major challenges that need to be confronted. The Steelworkers are committed to working with our employers and leaders of the business community to find common-sense solutions to put America back on the right track.
