The Early Shift

G.M. lost $6 billion in the first quarter.  GM CEO Fritz Henderson used the announcement as an opportunity to underscore the importance of executing GM's revised reorganization plans. A little trim here, a little snip there: that's the President's plan to save the taxpayers $17 billion over the next year by cutting 121 government programs.  "Not feeling it" are the clients of these government programs. Nobody said this is going to be easy, Congressman!  Rep. Henry Waxman tries to hang tough on climate change bill, even though a large moderate contingent of his own party is not on board.  Getting this done is going to be very, very tricky.  What else is tricky, you ask?  Ordering your burgers in public.  If you are President Obama that is.  There is a mini scandal brewing over President's preference for Dijon mustard and medium-well cooked beef.
