AAM Joins Manufacturers for Trade Enforcement Coalition

The Alliance for American Manufacturing is a member of the new coalition Manufacturers for Trade Enforcement, which officially launched on March 16. The coalition says China has not met criteria for market economy status and should keep its "non-market economy" status.

"The Alliance for American Manufacturing is pleased to join the Manufacturers for Trade Enforcement, a coalition opposed to the automatic granting of market economy status for China.

"Officials are actively lobbying to convince the U.S. government to reverse its longstanding “non-market economy” status. China’s communist regime controls every facet of its economy and even as their economy slows, its state-owned steel companies continue to ramp up production, making far more steel than China and the world can consume. China’s excess steel is then exported at rock bottom prices, leading to subsidized imports, quality concerns, and lost U.S. factory jobs. American workers are ready to compete against anyone in the world, but they can only do so if the system isn’t rigged.

"Fair trade is essential for manufacturing and we continue to encourage policy makers to enforce fair U.S. trade laws in order to level the playing field for American workers."
