POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Press Secretary

The Alliance for American Manufacturing (AAM), a non-partisan, labor-management public policy organization established to strengthen American manufacturing, seeks a Press Secretary to handle media relations. The candidate should have at least two years of relevant experience managing relationships with members of the media and possess extraordinary oral and written communications abilities, a successful track record pitching stories to the press, demonstrated knowledge of the news cycle, a proven ability to work in a team environment, and excellent organizational skills.  AAM offers a competitive salary and benefits package, including a matched 401(k) retirement plan; wellness, commuter, and tuition benefits; generous health care insurance, and life and disability coverage.

While the press secretary must be based in Washington, D.C., AAM does offer a hybrid work environment, with options to work from home on some days.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Press Secretary will serve as AAM’s key point of contact with the media and focus on the full range of organizational responsibilities, including strategic planning, media relations, digital communications, writing, and research.  Specifically, duties include the following:

The successful candidate must have initiative, excellent organizational skills and be able to work under pressure. The ability to work independently and set work priorities to ensure deadlines are met is essential.  The successful candidate must also demonstrate a team-oriented approach to problem solving and strategic planning.  Specific qualifications include:
