Target’s Hyde & EEK! Boutique and CREO
Target has some fun Halloween buckets to choose from. Its Hyde & EEK! Boutique collection includes ice cream pail-style buckets, including a glow-in-the-dark spiderweb design and a lime-green version decorated with bats and spiders.
For trick-or-treaters looking for something larger, Target also carries two-gallon Halloween buckets made by CREO in Leominster, Mass. Available in orange and purple designs, these buckets have plenty of room for a big candy haul.
Walmart’s Way to Celebrate
You don’t have to spend much to find a Halloween candy bucket. Walmart’s Way to Celebrate collection includes four varieties of plastic treat buckets priced at less than $1 each. They’re affordable, easy to find and a great option for families looking for a traditional trick-or-treat bucket.
Sea Bags

Made from recycled sailcloth in Portland, Maine, Sea Bags has a Halloween collection of bucket bags that can be used for trick-or-treating or decorating. Designs include the Jack O’Lantern Bucket Bag, with a friendly pumpkin face on one side and a spooky one on the other, along with the Happy Mummy and Little Ghosts bags. Add an LED candle inside to make them glow after dark, whether the kids are out collecting candy or the bags are sitting on your front porch. These durable bags give old sails a second life and can be brought out year after year.
Steele Canvas Basket Corp.

Steele Canvas Basket Corp. has been making durable canvas products in Massachusetts for more than a century. Just in time for Halloween, the company offers a limited-edition orange pumpkin bucket bag that’s a fun twist on the traditional plastic jack-o’-lantern and comes with smart reflective strips sewn in for safe trick-or-treating. It’s a fun way to collect all those Halloween treats while supporting American manufacturing.
Makeup Junkie Bags
Makeup Junkie Bags offers trick-or-treat totes made in Texas. With fun Halloween designs and plenty of room for candy, these lightweight totes are an alternative to the traditional plastic pumpkin bucket. And as any mom knows, it’s always a bonus when something can be used for more than one occasion. These totes can also come in handy for school, sleepovers or other activities. The company has been featured on “Shark Tank” and “Good Morning America.”
Red Land Cotton
And let’s not forget the trusty pillowcase! It’s been a trick-or-treating staple for generations, especially for kids determined to bring home a serious candy haul. Pillowcases still show up on doorsteps every Halloween.
Red Land Cotton makes pillowcases using cotton grown on its family farm in Alabama. They’re a practical choice that can be used year-round, long after the Halloween candy disappears.
Remember Those Classic Plastic Pumpkin Buckets?
If you grew up trick-or-treating in the 1970s, ’80s or ’90s, chances are you remember those classic orange plastic jack-o’-lantern buckets. With their smiling faces, triangle-shaped eyes and black handles, they were a Halloween staple.

Many of these vintage blow-molded buckets were manufactured by General Foam Plastics in Norfolk, Va., before the company closed in 2017. You can still find the originals at thrift stores and secondhand shops today.
The classic molds were later acquired by another company, and similar buckets are still produced today, although they’re now imported. If you’re looking for a little American-made Halloween nostalgia, keep an eye out for an original!
Whether your trick-or-treater prefers a bucket, tote or pillowcase, there are plenty of ways to carry home the candy while supporting American manufacturing.
