Toys

Lowercase Toys

Milwaukee, Wisconsin

About Lowercase Toys

Brenna Davis started her career as a speech language pathologist. During sessions with her clients, she noticed that parents were often unsure how to best support their children’s progress. She decided to create her own toys for her sessions that were simple and encouraged open-ended play. The toys were a huge hit, helping her clients develop their speech language skills. They worked so well that Brenna decided to start her own company making and selling them. Lowercase Toys sells felt toys made of materials from recycled water bottles. They’re designed to help with development by encouraging kids to explore different ways to play with them. And all the toys are made in Milwaukee, Wisconsin!

Metal Art of Wisconsin

About Metal Art of Wisconsin

The father-and-son team behind Metal Art of Wisconsin started their company tinkering around in their garage, making a steel American flag. But the artwork quickly took off and found a loyal customer base. Today, Metal Art of Wisconsin manufactures flags anywhere from 10 inches long to 10 feet. In 2017, founder Shane Henderson invented a product called the Freedom Cabinet, which hangs on the wall and opens to reveal storage space. Henderson recently installed a Freedom Cabinet at the Texas home of rock and roll bad boy Ted Nugent.

TODDLER FENCE

North States Industries

Siren, Wisconsin

About North States Industries

Fencing? For toddlers? If you’ve never had small kids, it might sound a little ridiculous. But if you’ve had them you’ll appreciate being able to cordon off a part of a room, staircase or doorway. You can’t put a price on keeping your kids safe while giving you some peace of mind if you’ve got to step out of the room. Employee-owned North States makes just such a product at a reasonable price: The Toddleroo by North States® Superyard® Classic is a six-panel, 26-inch-high enclosure that creates a yard of 18.5 square feet, and comes with pads that will keep it from skidding or slipping around. It’s also pretty light, too, making it easy to move around. There’s an outdoor version as well. While not all of North States’ products are American-made, the company is very up front about production information, and Made In USA products like this one will be clearly labeled as such.

Patriotic Products

Stars & Stripes Collective

Door County, Wisconsin

About Stars & Stripes Collective

In 2011, Jennifer and Stephen Imig heard the message of “Made in America,” and challenged themselves to buy only American-made products. They knew American apparel manufacturing had moved overseas, often made by workers earning low-wages and working without any labor or environmental protections. The experience led them to launch an Instagram account, Stars & Stripes Collective, to promote American-made goods. The husband and wife team opened a brick and mortar store in Wisconsin in 2018, and you can find many of the products they sell online.
