Washington, D.C. — U.S. factories lost 5,000 jobs in November, according to data released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics on Tuesday.
Alliance for American Manufacturing President Scott Paul said:
“Factory jobs have been slowly declining since February 2023 after a significant post-pandemic boom. Now that tax and trade policies have come into focus and interest rates are slowly dropping, I hope we’ll see a manufacturing hiring surge in the months ahead. This should be a signal to the Federal Reserve that it’s premature to stop lowering interest rates.
“Our nation must urgently reindustrialize to secure our supply chains, rebuild the middle class, and safeguard our national security.”
Paul is available for interview.
Though government action is immediately needed to kickstart factory job growth in the United States, AAM also empowers consumers to invest their shopping dollars in American manufacturers. CBS Sunday Morning showcased this work in a segment on AAM’s Made in America Holiday Gift Guide on Dec. 14.
