Manufacturing sector loses 1,000 jobs in March: AAM statement.

This morning, the Department of Labor reported that America's manufacturing sector lost 1,000 jobs in March.  The #AAMeter— which tracks President Obama's promise to create 1 million new manufacturing jobs in his second term — now stands at +114,000 jobs.

Said Alliance for American Manufacturing (AAM) President Scott Paul:

"It's not the robots nor the weather. There are still more manufacturing jobs leaving the U.S. than coming back. It doesn’t have to be this way. Lowering the trade deficit, investing in infrastructure, and boosting worker training could help to get us back on track.

"By more than a 2-1 margin, voters are telling Congress to focus on jobs over the budget deficit. The question is, will they listen?"

The #AAMeter.

President Obama set a goal of creating 1 million new manufacturing jobs in his second term. To follow the president's progress, the Alliance for American Manufacturing (AAM) maintains a manufacturing jobs tracker, the #AAMeter, based on monthly jobs data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).
