Strong bipartisan support for American-made data centers

For Immediate Release: February 10, 2026

Washington, D.C. — Artificial intelligence (AI) saturated Super Bowl ads this year, but new polling shows that the majority (69%) of U.S. voters are concerned that AI threatens U.S. manufacturing jobs, with agreement across party lines. Moreover, both Republicans (81%) and Democrats (68%) agree that data centers should use American-made materials to maximize job creation, according to the national survey conducted by Morning Consult on behalf of the Alliance for American Manufacturing (AAM).

“Americans want AI to strengthen U.S. manufacturing, not hollow it out,” AAM President Scott Paul said. “A radical transformation of our labor landscape is underway, but the AI boom doesn’t have to mean the loss of factory jobs. Now is the time for our innovation leaders to support this valuable pathway to the middle class. Far too often, the United States has belatedly learned the cost of neglecting the importance of the workers who build our nation. We can’t afford that error now.”

Key Findings:

  • Seven-in-ten (69%) Americans are concerned that AI could negatively impact manufacturing jobs.
  • The vast majority (73%) say that data center projects should maximize job growth by using American-made materials in data centers.
  • The majority of U.S. voters (67%) think that the U.S. should be a global leader in AI and manufacturing.
  • Nearly two-thirds (64%) of Americans want the U.S. to expand its energy production and the electric grid to support AI and prevent higher energy costs.
