Washington, D.C. – The Senate on Wednesday voted 98-0 to officially confirm Katherine Tai as the new U.S. Trade Representative.

Alliance for American Manufacturing President Scott Paul said:

“We congratulate Katherine Tai on her confirmation by the Senate as the U.S. Trade Representative. We strongly supported her nomination, as her previous experience with trade negotiations, policy matters, and legislation makes her uniquely qualified to represent U.S. trade interests.

“Many challenges await Ambassador Tai, including the fraught U.S.-China trade relationship, reforming the World Trade Organization, pushing back on unfair trade practices, shaping a worker-centered trade policy, and implementing the USMCA. Our labor-business partnership eagerly looks forward to working with Ambassador Tai and the Biden administration to make real progress for America’s workers.”

Scott Paul previously sent a letter in support of Tai’s confirmation to the Senate Finance Committee ahead of her confirmation hearing.
