Senate Passage of Infrastructure Investment is a Win for American Workers and Manufacturers

Washington, D.C. — The Senate on Tuesday voted 69-30 to pass a $1.2 trillion investment package to rebuild America’s infrastructure. The legislation now heads to the House, which previously passed its own infrastructure legislation.

Alliance for American Manufacturing President Scott Paul said:

“The Senate did its job today. There’s a reason why business and labor long have come together in support of rebuilding America’s infrastructure: Our roads, bridges, electric grid, transit, water systems, and more are falling apart. It’s time to get to work, and getting this work done will create millions of new jobs, too.

“We are particularly encouraged to see that the investment package passed by the Senate today includes strong Buy America provisions to ensure that the taxpayer dollars spent on infrastructure will be reinvested right back into American workers, manufacturers, and communities. The House also adopted similar provisions in its infrastructure bill, and Congressional leaders should now ensure Buy America is included in the final legislation.

“Let’s get infrastructure investment across the finish line and on President Biden’s desk.”
